DESCRIPTION:In partnership with Plug and Play Sweden and Trafikverket\, the focus of our first “Deep Dive” will be on real use-case needs that have been identified by the government agency. Plug and Play has a strong track record with this format\, and they bring deep experience from having successfully hosted Deep Dives across numerous industrial sectors and countries. \nThe goal is to connect real customers\, capable suppliers and relevant investors around specific opportunities where commercial space-based solutions can deliver national value. \nInstead of specifying rigid technical requirements\, the approach encourages innovation by presenting the need – rather than any pre-defined solutions. Innovators get clarity on what capabilities the customer is actually seeking to obtain\, and customers are presented with multiple potential solutions. \nMore details coming soon.

DESCRIPTION:Two complementary topics will be addressed during this *Prox-Ops* gathering: \n1. Why has the region of West Sweden (Västra Götalandsregionen\, VGR) decided to invest in supporting the development of a “NewSpace” ecosystem? \n\nMadeleine Jonsson\, a senior regional politician (MP) and Chair of VGR’s Environment and Regional Development Committee\, will provide insight into the region’s current views and future plans — including the creation of a new “West Swedish Space Strategy” and increased emphasis on doing what’s necessary to enable completely new business models\, focused on the commercial utilization of space to provide meaningful dual-use capabilities.\n\nMadeleine’s recent op-ed article in Dagens Industri is definitely worth reading ahead of the event! \n2.  How Space West’s efforts are helping to change the nature of the conversation in Sweden\, when it comes to what the primary focus of space-related activities should actually be. \n\nRepresentatives from Space West will provide a high-level summary\, and an associated informal assessment\, of some specific examples that illustrate how the domestic situation is evolving — and where the momentum is headed.\n\nFor anyone interested\, a sneak preview of just a couple of the items that will be discussed can be found in this recent LinkedIn post. \n\nFollowing the presentations there will also be an open Q&A session\, during which attendees will have the opportunity to engage directly with the speakers. \n\nPre-registration is required by using the link below.

DESCRIPTION:Prox-what?   Explaining the name… \n“Prox-Ops” is a common abbreviation for Proximity Operations\, which refers to the process whereby a spacecraft intentionally maneuvers in close proximity to (and/or physically interacts with) another space object – such as a satellite\, space station or celestial body. \nAcknowledging how incredibly important (orbital) Prox-Ops will be to enabling the development of a sustainable in-space economy\, we also strongly believe that close proximity interactions/collaborations here on Earth are an essential pre-requisite to enabling the development of a self-sustaining NewSpace ecosystem. \nIn the spirit of enabling these essential interactions\, the Space West *Prox-Ops* events will bring like-minded people together (i.e.\, in close proximity to each other) and encourage them to discuss their aspirations and challenges – in relation to helping strengthen Sweden’s position in NewSpace going forward.

DESCRIPTION:A formal Partner Kick-off was held and agreement reached regarding the focus and structure of our collaborative projects\, assignment of project leads and their supporting teams – which was attended by representatives from ALL of the founding partner organizations! \nDuring the event we: summarized the big-picture topics that will be addressed within the platform\, to facilitate the development of a domestic NewSpace ecosystem; introduced the planned collaborative activities and considered the respective partners’ contributions to each; and started leveraging the platform to collect additional inputs and identify partner needs/priorities. \nIn short: the foundation has been laid – and we’re now getting to work!
